Melissa is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). She has extensive experience working with families and adults in mental health and substance use in various community-based settings. She believes there is hope for everyone to reach their personal goals and strives to provide a safe, compassionate, supportive, and culturally responsive healing environment.
Melissa is authentic, creative, non-judgmental, and flexible in her approach. Her therapeutic influences include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused, Person Centered, Experiential, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, relapse prevention, and harm reduction. She brings a diverse set of skills which foster healing through addressing barriers in order to promote independence, strength, and wellness while embracing and respecting each person’s values, beliefs, and experiences. With her therapeutic style she has been able to provide individualized and holistic care to support each person in reaching the quality of life they envision for themselves. Melissa recognizes that change doesn't happen unless you are uncomfortable and she utilizes her diverse skills to empower you in navigating through your vulnerability and healing process.
Melissa holds a Master of Professional Studies in Integrated Behavioral Health from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Melissa has extensive experience working with individuals who are coping with depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Psychotic Disorders, OCD, trauma, substance use concerns, chronic illness, and grief and loss. She enjoys working with adults, adolescents 15+, survivors of trauma and abuse, Black, Indigenous, and people of color, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and people impacted by the criminal justice system.
